Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Peer-reviewed study measuring total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) in South River bank porewaters using DGT samplers. Field and lab results show inundation–drainage cycles increase dissolved THg (~3×) while MeHg peaks under reduced baseline conditions. A 2016 stabilization using partial soil removal, biochar, and armoring cut THg by ~200× and MeHg by >20×.
