Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

In spring 2008 VADEQ, URS, and DuPont sampled 618 floodplain stations across six South River reaches. Samples (0–6 in., 6–30 in.; archived 6-inch intervals) targeted inundation zones and land uses; wetlands were analyzed for MeHg and THg. Results show highest THg in Reach 1, decreasing with distance/elevation from the river, and distribution by land use and floodplain age.
