Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation reporting a study of mercury uptake and bioaccumulation in resident muskrats from the South River, VA, compared to a Middle River control. Kidney, liver and muscle tissues were analyzed by acid digestion and Cold Vapor AAS. South River muskrats showed significantly higher total Hg (especially in kidneys), poor correlations with age/sex/size, and a slight link to clam consumption.

Review Notes : The slides include author (JMU graduate student Tiffany Tumer) and advisor (Dr. Tom Benzing) and list sample collection dates (Dec 7–14, 2005 and Jan 6–8, 2006), but no publication or presentation date is shown. I treated this as a standalone slide deck (category: Presentations) rather than an SRST meeting packet because no meeting affiliation is visible.
