It is, to my knowledge, the largest spring creek that we have in Virginia or at least spring-influenced creek

Having a student map their watershed address and see the connectness that they have to their downstream neighbors lets them know that what you do here does matter.

The river has healed a lot over time from all sorts of different impacts so it’s much better than it was twenty years ago.

The river has been central to industrial development throughout the ages, continues to be so, and I think in the future will be an important consideration.

What I’m hoping is that people realize what a rich natural resource we have and work hard to protect it and respect it and enjoy it.

We’ll fish, we’ll float, whether that’s standing up or sitting down. If it’s a really hot day, you might just put your feet in, hang out, and enjoy the serenity that it has to offer.
