Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch

Now through November, the hawk watch provides panoramic views of the gap and both the Shenandoah Valley to the west and the Piedmont Region to the east. “At Home with the Virginia Presidents” is an engaging armchair travel and history talk about the eight Virginia-born presidents and the sites that shaped their lives. We will travel the state--from Staunton to Charles City and Wytheville to Winchester--to (virtually) visit the homes and historic sites of the Virginia presidents. Attendees will learn a bit about the presidents’ lives, take a peek inside their homes and get ideas for their next history road trip. The Shenandoah Valley Art Centers 52nd Annual Fall Foliage Art Show will be held October 14 & 15, 2023. 150 fine artists and artisans will showcase their works including painting, printmaking, wood, pottery, glass, jewelry, sculpture and mixed media. The artists bring high quality art and craft to this two day outdoor show which takes over the streets of Downtown Waynesboro. You'll find artists lined up along Main Street and Wayne Avenue, plus an exhibit gallery of new artists in the Emerge Gallery at 416 W. Main Street

Blue Ridge Tunnel after dark: self-guided tour

Nelson County Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Blue Mountain Brewery again to bring the spooky out for our 3rd Annual Tunnel After Dark Event! Blue Mountain will be selling draft pours of Dark Hollow, Concealed Darkness, Spooky, and other options at the tunnel entrance. The event will also raise food and monetary funds to support the Nelson Food Bank just in time for the holidays. This is a ticketed event. Premium Onsite Parking: $25 per carload.
