Volunteer Spotlight: Nancy Sorrells

Ever see someone’s face light up when they’re talking about something they love? That’s the way it is with Nancy Sorrells and history. Her curiosity, energy, and generous nature – not to mention a master’s degree in local, state, and regional history – has propelled her into the roles of THE local historian of our area, as well as distinguished community advocate. Lucky for us, Nancy was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the South River Watershed Coalition. She was a member of the Citizen Advisory group for the Science Team before that. Her knowledge of the past not only helps us plan our future, but her energy during newsletter brainstorming sessions translates into beautiful photos and timely, thoughtful articles. So next time you run into Nancy walking along the Greenway in Waynesboro or meet her after a lecture, say a big thank you for all the contributions she has made to our community.
