Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide deck reports a 2016 field and laboratory validation of handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for measuring mercury (Hg) in riverbank soils. AECOM collected 236 samples; JMU performed XRF in field and lab; results compared to EPA Method 7471A (Lancaster Labs). XRF showed strong agreement (field R2=0.9337, lab R2=0.9702), 102% spike recovery, and comparable precision.
