Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

This final report describes application of the Dynamic Mercury Cycling Model (D-MCM) to the South River (RRM 0–26). The model was calibrated to 2006–2014 data to simulate inorganic Hg and methylmercury cycling, food-web bioaccumulation, sensitivity, and remediation scenarios. Results identify bank erosion as the dominant Hg source and predict multi-year fish MeHg declines following bank-stabilization.
