Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation describing a 2003–2004 vegetable garden study at the Augusta Forestry Center (Crimora, VA) assessing uptake of soil mercury into crops. Floodplain surface soils contained 4.2–78 mg Hg/kg while control soils were low. Most crop tissue measurements were below detection limits. Conservative exposure screening produced hazard quotients (HQ) well below 1 and no further plantings were recommended.

Review Notes : The slide deck lists the South River Science Team; it is not explicit whether this was presented at a formal SRST meeting. Categorized as a standalone Presentation rather than SRST Meeting Documents for that reason.
