Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Conference poster describing long-term monitoring of total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) in mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) breast muscle from the South River/Shenandoah Valley. Three birds per station were sampled; THg and MeHg follow spatial patterns related to a historical point source, MeHg comprised ~94% of THg, and baseline data support the monitoring design for post-remediation evaluation.
