Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide deck presents laboratory assays testing how biochar and Sedimite sediment amendments affect detrital processing and mercury bioaccumulation in Hyalella azteca. Sediments from low- and high‑Hg South River sites (North Oak Lane, Dooms Crossing) were mixed with amendments and assayed at 1 week, 1.5, 3, and 6 months. Preliminary results: Sedimite reduced detrital processing; biochar effects appeared transient.
