Slide deck reports experiments assessing ecological effects of biochar on stream macroinvertebrate communities. Field colonization trays and 20-L stream microcosms tested large (1–5 mm) and small (<1 mm) biochar, and biochar combined with copper (target 50 µg/L). Biochar reduced stonefly colonization, increased macroinvertebrate drift, and depressed community metabolism; effects concentrated in early-instar stoneflies.

Review Notes : No publication date is present in the PDF slides. Author and affiliation (Will Clements, Colorado State University) and study location (South Fork of the Michigan River, Colorado) are visible. Experimental details (large vs small biochar, 20-L microcosms, Cu target ≈50 µg/L, ~10% lower dissolved Cu with biochar) are reported on slides.
