Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation summarizing geomorphic field work on the South River from Hopeman to the Forestry Station. Team mapped 39 mud deposits, estimated average deposit volume (~20 m × 4 m × 0.8 m), and assessed controls on mud storage. Coring attempts produced incomplete cores; several cores show elevated total mercury (Hg). Plans include additional coring, grain‑size, radionuclide dating, and erosion-rate analysis.
