Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation reporting a monitoring study of Waynesboro WWTP Biological Nutrient Removal upgrades and downstream effects on the South River. Eight-week pre- and post-upgrade sampling assessed effluent and river nutrients, water quality, periphyton biomass, and total and methylmercury in water and algae. Upgrades greatly reduced effluent N and P and downstream phosphorus; seasonal effects confounded some outcomes.
