This briefing paper (Oct 19, 2015) reports mercury isotope analyses (δ202Hg and Δ199Hg) of South River bank soils, sediments, filtered surface water (dissolved and suspended), and piezometer groundwater. Results distinguish regional background Hg from contamination near the industrial outfall, show downstream mixing patterns, a consistent negative δ202Hg offset in dissolved Hg, and evidence for photochemical reduction and hyporheic infiltration.
