Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

This slide deck from the South River Science Team (SRST) Expert Panel Meeting (October 10, 2013) summarizes findings from pond and bank pilot projects. It reports that biochar reduced methylmercury in some biota, flooding altered mercury distribution and sediment properties, and bank stabilization led to decreased total Hg and MeHg. Proposed 2014 monitoring activities are outlined.
