Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation reporting initial results from a 2008 study of methylmercury (MeHg) production in South River sediments. Methods included sediment slurry incubations with 203HgCl2 and 14C‑MeHg to measure potential methylation and demethylation; rates and spatial patterns (RRM 1.6–12.8) are reported. The deck also describes use of an Hg(II) bioreporter to estimate bioavailable mercury and calibration needs.
