Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation (Virginia Tech, Oct 21 2003) describing seasonal fish-diet sampling and mercury analyses in the South River, South Fork Shenandoah River and North River. Methods, site locations, and preliminary results are shown: mercury increases with trophic level, sediment-associated organisms and crayfish have high concentrations, and methylmercury is highest in fish and decapods. A bioaccumulation model (BASS) is introduced.
