Serving Waynesboro, Augusta County & the Shenandoah Valley

Slide presentation reporting a Rutgers pilot study measuring mercury methylation and methylmercury demethylation potentials in South River sediments (May and August 2008). Results show seasonal and site variability, elevated methylation potential in fine-grained channel-margin sediments in August, M/D ratios >1 in August, and active microbial communities dominated by proteobacteria including known methylators.
