This technical monograph describes using DuPont-developed benthic flux chambers (BFCs) to directly measure dissolved total mercury and methylmercury fluxes from South River sub-aqueous environments. It details chamber design, cleaning, deployment and sampling protocols, and reports May 2005 pilot results upstream of Dooms’ dam showing measurable MMHg and total Hg fluxes at one site. A path forward outlines further deployments to Crimora.
